Gospel Reflections

12th Sunday in Ordinary Time - 2026 - Year A

Did not our hearts burn within us as he talked to us on the road and explained the scriptures to us? (Luke 24:32)
As disciples of Jesus, we are called to deepen our relationship with him through reading and reflecting on Scripture and responding through witness. Here you are offered, each week, some ways of reflecting on the gospel for our weekend masses.

Gospel for the day - 12th Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year A

Matthew 10:26-33

'Do not fear those who kill the body.'

You can find this Sunday’s gospel as well as the first two readings here. Select the correct date from the side menu, or, in mobile view, by scrolling to the bottom.

In his weekly commentary on the Sunday readings, Jeff Bagnall offers some interesting background to the texts as well as a reflection on their meaning for us.

Jeff was a lecturer for many years at Craiglockhart College teaching RE to many future Catholic Primary teachers.

You might want simply to reflect yourself on the readings and commentary and how that might flow into your coming week.
It can be helpful to meet with others and share your thoughts. If you are interested in joining a small Connect Group to share your thoughts and feelings about God's Word please email us:

Cluster prayer

Lord continue to bless our community in this time of transition.

Help us on our journey to grow from a maintenance church to a missionary church.
Give us the courage to be missionary disciples.
Make our doors wide enough to receive all who need human love and fellowship; narrow enough to shut out all envy, pride and prejudice.

Kindle in us the fire of your love that all who come here will find joy, peace and love.

Make this a house of prayer and a gateway to your kingdom.

AMEN

Preparing for next week - Feast of Saint Peter and Paul - Year A
