Vision for the parishes of the South Edinburgh Cluster
A Community, not of buildings but of active/living stones:
- where all have something to offer and all want to give of their time & talents and are encouraged and enabled to do so
- where people are proud to belong, that they want to be part of, and want others to be a part of too, reaching out to welcome and bring them in
- that through its life and actions lives the Great Commission to go and make disciples, growing the Kingdom of God in South Edinburgh
A Community with parishioners at its heart:
- where both the priest and every parishioner feels valued & loved (not isolated or alone)
- where all feel listened to, cared for, respected and challenged, and we all ourselves listen, care, respect and challenge
- where we are supportive of one another and not overly critical
- where we have a particular care for our sick & housebound, our elderly, the vulnerable and all in any kind of need, so they feel cared for and valued
- that values and promotes a vibrant social life that brings us closer together
A Community that is open to the Spirit:
- with a strong sense of prayer and its purpose
- open-minded in ideas, thinking, teaching
- that acts on the promptings of the Spirit, able to be spontaneous but undertaking tasks in a measured way
- that provides opportunities for people to learn, understand and grow in a journey of faith
A Community that is well informed and well organised:
- where there’s effective communication at all levels
- people are aware of and understand the essentials of parish life eg where the offertory goes, what we spend monies on, what groups operate in the parish
- where we have clear and effective arrangements to support the day-to-day tasks and discharge our wider obligations to the archdiocese and other authorities: eg clerical/office, sacristy, liturgy planning, finance, Child Protection and vulnerable adults, Health & Safety.
