Analysis of Feedback from parishioners:
data gathered through telephone contacts and questionnaires
Summary
  • 89 (53.3%) of the 167 parishioners the questionnaire was emailed to completed and returned the questionnaire.  The percentage response varied across the three parishes:
    • 56.2% in St Catherine’s
    • 76.2% in St Gregory’s
    • 40.4% in St John Vianney’s.
  • In addition, 32 parishioners not on the email list were contacted by telephone and invited to answer the questions.
  •  All the data that follows is based on the answers provided by 121 parishioners – 89 via the online questionnaire and 32 via telephone.
  • Of the 121 people who participated, 23 (19.0%) indicated they are shielding, and 59 (48.8%) that they are aged 70 or over.
    • St Gregory’s has a higher percentage of respondents aged 70 or over than the other two parishes – 58.6% compared to 47.4% in St Catherine’s and 42.9% in St John Vianney’s.
  • 59.5% of those who participated use the adult liturgy resource weekly.  The majority rate the value of this resource as excellent
  • 6.6% of those who participated (mainly families with children) use the children’s liturgy resource weekly.  The majority rate the value of this resource as excellent.
  • 59.5% of those who participated access the website weekly.  The majority rate the value of this resource as excellent.
  • 16.5% of those who participated listen to the podcast (dial-in audio liturgy) weekly. This lower percentage is expected as most people with internet access use the online materials rather than the telephone service. The majority rate the value of this resource as excellent. 
  • 48.8% of those who participated watch a streamed/online Mass weekly.  The majority rate the value of this resource as excellent.
  • Overall, 47.1% of those who participated may want to return to weekend Mass as soon as safety measures are in place.  However, in both St Catherine’s (42.1%) and St John Vianney’s (34.3%) a significant proportion of parishioners indicated they will wait until there are no restrictions in place.
  • 47 of the 121 people who participated (38.8%) have offered to become part of one or more of the teams we need to form to open and maintain our churches for Mass.  23 of the 47 people are in St Catherine’s, 12 in St Gregory’s and 12 in St John Vianney’s.
