Tributes to
Father Mike and Father Alex

Our priests between them have given us 67 years of pastoral ministry.
We invite you to send in your video clips, photos, stories, memories and words of gratitude for both of them. We shall put them together here in next week's news.
In the meantime, here are a couple to start us off.
Throughout his 23 years ministry with us, Fr Mike has worked closely with parishioners, to lead and support our faith communities. He has been instrumental in bringing our three parishes together into a cohesive vibrant Cluster. His warm of welcome to those of faith and of none is fulsome and genuine.
By championing adult faith formation, he has ensured that parishioners are informed, equipped and empowered to live out the Gospel teachings. For many, his homilies on Sundays are like ‘an injection in the arm’, penetrating yet healing and sustaining.
His vision and energy for outreach work has extended our Cluster boundaries to embrace faith communities in both Romania and Tanzania.  As a consequence, we have all gained lasting friendships.
He is there for us in our times of celebration and joy, with his pithy sense of humour and he is there for us in our darkest hours, with empathy, care and compassion.

We value his wise and measured counsel; his trust in us and his discretion in all matters.
We are enormously grateful to God for the gift of Fr Mike

Back in 1996, Fr Alex, Deacon Alex at the time, spent his one-year diaconate placement in St John Vianney’s.  He probably did not imagine that, 23 years later, he would be appointed back to St John Vianney’s and St Gregory’s as parish priest, working closely with St Catherine’s as part of the Cluster!

As he celebrates the anniversary of his ordination, we give thanks for his ministry amongst us.  He has combined a very demanding hospital ministry with service of the parishes.  He has embraced and, with Fr Mike, led us on the maintenance to mission journey we had set out on.  His homilies are thought-provoking and challenging.  His hospitality is legendary and in many ways is symbolic of his humble service of the communities he works amongst.  Through this service he walks alongside us, encourages and enables us to grow as individuals and faith communities.

We are grateful to God for the gift he is to our community and look forward to continuing to work alongside him.

Congratulations, Fr Mike and Fr Alex on your priestly anniversaries and thank you personally for your love and devotion as priests over the years in our cluster.
Happy Birthday Fr Alex, a quiet day I’m sure in these strange times.
May I take this opportunity to thank the team who design and put together our weekly parish News which is beautifully designed and easy to navigate. It’s lovely to have people from all the cluster involved in readings/ prayer/ music any your inspiring homilies.
We greatly appreciate your hard work and dedication to keeping us all connected.
Love, prayers and blessings.
