Cluster News 8 April

Dear Parishioner of the South Edinburgh Cluster,

We hope that this finds you and your families well.
As promised when we emailed at the weekend, here are some materials
for Holy Thursday and Good Friday that we hope you will find helpful.

Holy (Maundy) Thursday

The team has produced additional materials that can be used to help children and adults reflect on the scriptures.  You can access these materials by clicking on the following links:.

You can also watch and listen to a
Holy Thursday reflection
that Fr Alex and Fr Mike have prepared for us

At the heart of our Holy Thursday liturgy is the celebration of service.  This year, we are unable to gather and wash one another’s feet.  We would like to suggest that each of us still tries to take part in this in a practical way.  We encourage everybody to do do an act of kindness or service – e.g. taking the time to telephone somebody.

Good Friday

We would like to offer the following as additional ways to help you participate in Good Friday.

(i)    Good Friday Service

We will have a virtual service at 4pm on Good Friday which you are warmly invited to participate in.  We will host the service using Zoom Video Conferencing.   If you would like to join in this can you please email

When we receive your email, we will send you instructions describing how to set up Zoom on your PC/laptop or phone/tablet.  On Good Friday itself, around 20 minutes before the service begins, we will send you an email with the link you will need to click on to join the service.

We know that not everybody has internet access and that some people may not feel confident about using a tool like Zoom.  However, we thought it was worth trying to draw people together.

(ii)    Children’s Liturgy

If you click on the image, you will find materials the children can use.

(iii)    Stations of the Cross

If you would like to pray and reflect on the Stations of the Cross.  These are Stations of the Cross authored by Tom Hoopes, with a focus on the worldwide pandemic we are living through.

This is a link to Stations of the Cross that are specifically designed for young people:

If you are aware of people who don't have internet access, could you contact them by phone and share our Cluster News and Prayer Resources?
Please feel free to forward this email to any parishioners you are in contact with.
We will email again at the weekend with additional materials for Easter.
Let’s continue to pray for one another and especially those who are experiencing any difficulties during this challenging time. With our prayers, best wishes and blessings.
Fr Mike & Fr Alex
