Connect groups

Advent Sessions 2022

Our Connect Groups combined to create a weekly Advent session covering the four weeks. This is their third year of doing this - it's almost entirely made up of our cluster parishioners who select what they want to use and why they have chosen it. We're not aware of any other parishes in the archdiocese who do this.

Connect Groups - so called because people seek to connect with each other during the week. Typically, these groups are formed after people have shared their thoughts and feelings with each other in an Alpha course, but some people just join because they want to grow as Christians by meeting with others and share their faith.

Since the pandemic, people have been meeting online rather than in their homes but the discussions are no less lively!

Generally speaking, people meet to discuss the gospel of the week ahead in order to prepare more adequately for the weekend Mass. People share lots of things about themselves - the talk is not solidly about religion. Often you can get to know somebody really well this way - someone you've seen at Mass for years but never really shared anything with...
