Building a Communications Team

Over the weeks since the start of lockdown, our newsletter has grown week by week, as we come up with new ideas and take on board your feedback. Our goal has been to stay in touch and ensure that while our buildings are closed, our Church remains open.

We have learned and hopefully improved, and your feedback has been encouraging. We hope that in the near future when we get back to a more normal form of worship, we can retain elements of what we have been doing to supplement our weekend liturgy.

We now need more people to assist us in preparing our weekly material. Tasks might include general administration, script writing, even web design or video editing but these are skills that we can learn.

What we really need are people who can take our weekly message and present it in language that will be suitable for our cluster. If you have something to offer in the more technical elements, then so much the better.

Longer term we will be looking at our approach to communication across the cluster as a part of Maintenance to Mission, and we hope to see the future communication team evolve from what we are building just now.

What we have been producing isn’t the product of trained communication specialists. It’s just a small group of us doing our best, learning as we go. We would dearly love to bring others on board.

 Our remit includes:
  •  liaising with those who coordinate the various ministries e.g. readers, musicians, cantors, prayer composers, clergy etc.
  • overseeing and managing the production and delivery of the weekend resources
  •  administering our website and platforms

There will be support available and you wont be asked to do anything which takes you beyond your technical comfort zone. Remember it’s your ability to communicate with your fellow parishioners that is the most valuable thing for us.

Please think about getting involved. You would be very welcome. The next steps will be a Zoom meeting to hear more about how we hope to progress. If you would like to be involved please let us know by email to southedclust@btinternet.com by Wednesday 24th June.

Thank you in anticipation
