Resumption of the Cluster Walking Group (April 23)
As many of you will know, one of our Cluster parishioners, George McDermid, founded the Cluster Walking Group back in 2011. Over the years that followed, George led the group on 100 walks, taking in Edinburgh, the Lothians, Fife and the Borders. George hasn’t been able to lead us on walks recently due to his health.
Those who went on the walks over the years greatly enjoyed the walking, the beautiful scenery and getting to know people from across our Cluster parishes and beyond.
We are pleased to announce that the Cluster Walking Group will start again on Saturday 13 May, with a walk along the Water of Leith from Balerno to the Water of Leith Visitor Centre (Slateford). It is a walk of approximately 5 miles, taking around 2 hours, fairly flat and on a good path all the way. There are exit points for those who would like to walk a shorter distance. We will take the 400 bus (0955 at Gilmerton Crossroads; 1003 at Kaimes Crossroads) and then switch to the No 44 at Gillespie Crossroads. For those wishing to meet us in Balerno, the intention is to get the No. 44 at 1033 at Gillespie Crossroads, which will arrive at the Bridge Road, near Lanark Road West, stop around 1045.
Please bring a packed lunch, which we can enjoy at the Visitor Centre, at the end of the walk.
While George is no longer able to lead our walks, he is very generously continuing to help with advice and information to ensure we have a good experience.
