Sixth Sunday of Easter

The following resources are in the form of a video presentation
  • The readings for the Sixth Sunday of Easter  (a useful commentary on these readings here)
  • A Gospel Reflection by Fr Alex and Fr Mike
  • Prayers of Intercession
  • Our Cluster Prayer
After you have watched our Prayer Resources we would encourage you to sit and reflect quietly on what the Word of God is saying to you this weekend. The questions below are simply suggestions but if you find them helpful then use them.

As we are set to be away from our church buildings for some time yet, we would ask you to consider the idea of forming small groups which can meet over the internet (or 1 to 1 over the phone) and share your thoughts and feelings about God's Word from any of the resources you have watched. We can put you in touch with a group should you want that. Please email us.         southedclust@btinternet.com

Questions. (Framed for a group discussion  but can be reflected on individually)
  • Philip goes to Samaria to tell them about Jesus. Samaria was well outside the comfort zone for the average Jew, but he goes all the same and the people accepted his message.
Who can we speak to this week who’s been outside our comfort in relationship terms?
No preaching needed, just the evangelising power of the Spirit who works through our humble acts of connecting and caring for others. Talk to friends about it for guidance.
  • Find some quiet times this week, and say the prayer mentioned in the gospel reflection: “Come Holy Spirit!” (see below) Ask for the wisdom to discern what gifts you can bring to the cluster – and the courage to act on it.
  • For many, prayer to the Father and the Son is straightforward but how do you pray to the Holy Spirit?
Have a discussion about this with others this week if you can.

End of Prayer resource
Come Holy Spirit!
Fill the hearts of your faithful people
and kindle in us the fire of your love.
Help us to renew the face of the earth
by loving unconditionally
as Jesus taught us.
Come Holy Spirit!
