Fourth Sunday of Easter

The following resources are in the form of a video presentation

  • The readings for the day
  • (a useful commentary on these readings here )
  • A Gospel Reflection by Fr Alex
  • Prayers of Intercession
  • Closing reflective music

Having listened to the readings, the homily and the prayers, you might want simply to reflect yourself on what you have heard and how that might flow into your coming week. Some people have found it very helpful to meet with others and share their thoughts.

If you are interested  in joining a small group to share your thoughts and feelings about God's Word from any of the resources you have watched please email us.         cluster.alpha@outlook.com

Questions for reflection (framed for a group discussion)

Was there a time when you felt lost and needed someone to find you?

Who, among the people you know, looks like that at the moment?

Preparing for next week

For those who would like to start reflecting on next week's gospel,

the text can be found here.

Preparing for next week’s gospel:

Fifth Sunday of Easter
John 15:1-8     Whoever remains in me, with me in him, bears fruit in plenty.

Question for reflection (framed for a group discussion)

Jesus tells us that we, the vine branches, are pruned already…

“You are pruned already, by means of the word that I have spoken to you.”

With the pandemic, it feels as though we have been cut off (pruned)

from each other both at Mass and afterwards meeting socially.

It has taught us the value of relationships and connectedness –

both with Jesus and with each other.

1. Do you read the gospel each week and reflect on it in terms of your relationships with God and with each other?

2. Decide how those relationships will “bear fruit” this week in ways that help us all to stay connected as a part of the Body of Christ here in South East Edinburgh.
