19th Sunday B

The following resources are in the form of a video presentation

  • The readings for the day
  • (a useful commentary on these readings here )
  • A Gospel Reflection by Fr Alex
  • Prayers of Intercession
  • Closing reflective music

Having listened to the readings, the homily and the prayers, you might want simply to reflect yourself on what you have heard and how that might flow into your coming week. Some people have found it very helpful to meet with others and share their thoughts.

If you are interested  in joining a small group to share your thoughts and feelings about God's Word from any of the resources you have watched please email us.         cluster.alpha@outlook.com

Questions for reflection (framed for a group discussion)

Some people leave us feeling good about ourselves and,

with a spring in our step, we face the world in a better state of mind.

They are like crumbs falling from the table of the Master who is the Bread of Life.

They help us to "Taste and see that the Lord is good" (Ps. 34)

  1. Who are the people who have nourished your spiritual life (maybe no names)?
  2. When has the bread of life given you the strength you needed to face a difficult situation in your life?

Preparing for next week

For those who would like to start reflecting on next week's gospel,

the text can be found here.

Preparing for next week’s gospel:  The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Luke 1:39-56   The Almighty has done great things for me, he has exalted up the lowly.

Most of us, if asked whether we are among the 'mighty' or the 'lowly', would plump for being among the lowly - the ordinary people in life. And that was Mary.

God came into her life in a unique way, and God wants to be in our lives too.

Saying "Yes" to God, (sometimes with our fingers crossed behind our back)

makes all the difference - a 'mighty' big difference.

  1. Try saying "yes" to a challenge this week - maybe something that's been niggling away at you for a while. (Share with your group)
  2. How does your belief in eternal life affect your daily life?
