16th Sunday B

The following resources are in the form of a video presentation

  • The readings for the day
  • (a useful commentary on these readings here )
  • A Gospel Reflection by Fr Alex
  • Prayers of Intercession
  • Closing reflective music

Having listened to the readings, the homily and the prayers, you might want simply to reflect yourself on what you have heard and how that might flow into your coming week. Some people have found it very helpful to meet with others and share their thoughts.

If you are interested  in joining a small group to share your thoughts and feelings about God's Word from any of the resources you have watched please email us.         cluster.alpha@outlook.com

Questions for reflection (framed for a group discussion)

Most people recognise what a good leader is like. When Pope Francis speaks frankly to the press coming back from an exhausting trip, he does not dodge questions as politicians do. He speaks like a man who is less anxious about saying the wrong thing and more relaxed about letting the Spirit give him the words.

  1. When have you realised that you needed to step up to respond to a challenge that no one else was willing to tackle? (Share)
  2. Divine Renovation talks about "servant leadership" as a way of the People of God caring for each other. Have you ever seen yourself as someone who can take the lead in serving others in the Cluster - and if not, why not??

Preparing for next week

For those who would like to start reflecting on next week's gospel,

the text can be found here.

Preparing for next week’s gospel:

John 6:1-15 Jesus gave out as much as was wanted to all who were sitting ready.

"Reflect on the way a good meal satisfies: food, drink, atmosphere, conversation, company... Compare that meal with the Eucharistic meal we share. Celebrate a holy communion each time you share a meal."

(This Transforming Word B by Alice Camille, Acta Publications)

  1. What do these words suggest to you? (Share in your group)
  2. What do you do to rest so that you can return to work refreshed?
