What has been happening in our Cluster

.

BITS N’ PIECES:

Cluster Youth Group – Richmond’s Hope
The Cluster Youth Group write: ‘Three years ago, when we asked the young people of our Cluster what they would like to see happening for folk of their age, they asked for a Youth Group.  One of the things they said they would like to do as part of the Youth Group was helping other people.
Last year they looked at a number of charities and decided that they wanted to “adopt” Richmond’s Hope.  For those who don’t know this charity, it began in 2003 in the Niddrie area of Edinburgh and is based in Richmond Craigmillar Church. They work in a purpose built playroom where children and young people are helped to rebuild their lives after the death of someone they loved.
We are about to have our first fund-raising event for Richmond’s Hope – a sponsored sleepover in the parish hall at St John Vianney’s on Friday 10th February.  Some of the leaders and the young people will be at the back of each church this weekend.  If you would like to sponsor them, that would be very much appreciated.’

Calling all Knits. ‘Oxfam is appealing for knitted items to sell in their high street shops as well as at festivals. They’re after anything they can sell, including jumpers, cardigans and scarves, though not toys due to safety regulations. “We can sell most knitted goods in our shops, but what we most like to receive is knitted blankets – they are the best sellers in their summer festival shops, selling for up to £35 each.” This means that for every 6ftx4ft Oxfam blanket, 60 people can be provided with clean water in an emergency. It's a great excuse not only to indulge in some heavy duty knitting, but also to head out to a festival come summer time! www.oxfam.org.uk
